Six Reasons Why Your Child Will Flourish
Our children flourish not only in an intellectual sense but also socially, physically and emotionally.

Focus on Independence
Montessori education places a strong emphasis on nurturing independence and self-reliance in children. Through practical life exercises (like pouring water or buttoning clothes) and self-directed learning, children learn essential life skills and develop confidence in their abilities.

Diverse Proven Curriculum
Montessori schools prioritise the individual needs and interests of each child. With a curriculum that allows children to choose their activities and work at their own pace, your child can develop a sense of independence and intrinsic motivation for learning.

Mixed Age Classrooms
Montessori classrooms typically have mixed-age groupings, allowing younger children to learn from older peers and older children to reinforce their knowledge by teaching younger ones. This dynamic fosters collaboration, empathy, and a sense of community among children.

Outdoor Play & Exploration
Spending time outdoors allows children to develop a deeper connection to the natural world. By exploring outdoor environments, children learn to respect and care for the Earth, leading to a greater sense of environmental responsibility as they grow older.

Concrete Learning Materials
Montessori classrooms are filled with specially designed materials that encourage hands-on exploration and discovery. Through activities like pouring, sorting, and manipulating objects, children develop their fine motor skills and gain a deeper understanding of concepts through direct experience.

Holisitc Development
Montessori education values the holistic development of children, encompassing not only academic skills but also social, emotional, and physical growth. Teachers in Montessori schools observe and support each child's development across these domains, ensuring a well-rounded educational experience.
The unique qualities of each child inspire our work
We believe that ideas change lives. That is why at Monkstown Grove Montessori, we encourage creativity. Our goal is to enable every child to flourish on their own terms: to shape his own destiny, to achieve her own greatness, and to create a strong foundation for a life of purpose and fulfillment.
Our Parents' Stories

I could not recommend Monkstown Grove Montessori more highly. I have three children who have been and my youngest is still there. All three children have blossomed in the care of the teachers who get the balance between Teacher and Mum just right. When I see how happy they are I know I picked the right place for their first venture out into the world. I love that it is a dedicated Montessori and the space itself has high ceilings and huge windows making it a bright and airy space for the kids. I really get a sense that the teachers care about each child and the children in return have loved their teachers. My daughter, now 8, still chats about her time there. They learn all sorts of wonderful stuff about space, volcanos and continents and most importantly they learn to be kind and helpful to the smaller kids. A wonderful find.

Monkstown Grove Montessori was highly recommended to me by a friend 2 years ago. Now, my son Cillian has finished two happy years there and is well prepared for “big school”. He loves all his classmates and has learnt so much! I would recommend Monkstown Grove Montessori for many reasons; the grassy garden for outdoor games and free play, the safe parking, a small class but amply sized, PE lessons, fun art projects, the Irish lesson on Fridays, a fine collection of wildlife in the spring, the detailed parent-teacher feedback, but mostly I would recommended it for the teachers who are energetic, experienced, kind and dedicated to the Montessori ethos. I have no hesitation in sending my daughter (aged 2.5) there next September.

Monkstown Grove Montessori School is a happy, friendly, child-centred place. Both of my children went to the school over the course of three years and during that time I have seen them grow, learn and become confident in themselves. One of the things I like best about the school is that it is a relatively small place and the school has a fantastic continuity in its staff, the three main teachers having been with the school almost from the beginning. This makes for almost a ‘family’ type setting, in which the younger children observe and learn from the older ones and where everyone is encouraged to develop at their own pace. The school’s ethos is another contributing factor to its warm and safe atmosphere. It is based on traditional values of kindness, inclusiveness and respect towards those around us. The years my kids spent in Monkstown Grove Montessori School were so happy and carefree. They made their first friendships there and they learned so much. They have very fond memories from the various school trips they went on, the Christmas plays they prepared, the Easter bunny hunts, Halloween dress-up parties, as well as the scientific and nature experiments they undertook. I have no doubt that the time they spent in the school provided a solid basis for their future learning and growth.
